Terms of use

1. Who runs Yipo
Yipo (yipo.app) is run by a private individual in Hungary (the "operator"). Contact: hello@yipo.app. This address is also the contact point for users and for authorities under the EU Digital Services Act; you can write in English or Hungarian.
2. What Yipo is
Yipo is a website that suggests music by artists you may not know yet, based on the taste you give it. You can listen to 30-second previews, save what you like and open it on other music services. It is free and non-commercial: there are no payments, subscriptions or ads. Yipo doesn't stream full songs and doesn't sell music.
3. How the agreement is made
- You enter your e-mail address. Before asking for the code you can see and correct it on the screen.
- Yipo e-mails you a 6-digit code. You enter it in the app.
- With that, and by continuing past the screen that links to these terms, you accept them and the agreement between you and the operator is made, for an indefinite time.
The agreement is in English. It is concluded electronically and is not filed as a separate document; these terms are always available at yipo.app/terms, and you can save or print them. The operator doesn't follow any code of conduct.
4. Your account
- You must be 16 or older, or have a parent's or guardian's permission.
- An account is for one person. You sign in with an e-mail address you control; anyone with access to that mailbox can sign in to your account, so keep it safe. Write to hello@yipo.app if you think someone else used your account.
- Give a real e-mail address. Don't create accounts in bulk, or for someone else without their permission.
- You can delete your account at any time under You › Delete my account. Accounts not used for a year are deleted automatically.
5. Using Yipo fairly
You may use Yipo for your own personal, non-commercial listening and discovery. Please don't:
- use it for anything unlawful, or to harass or harm anyone;
- access it with scripts, bots or scrapers, or in bulk, or copy its suggestions, music data or lists into another product or service;
- try to reach other people's accounts or data, probe or break its security, or get around its limits;
- overload or disrupt the service;
- download, record or pass on previews, covers or other music material.
If you break these rules, the operator may limit or suspend your account, or end the agreement (section 12). The measure will be proportionate to what happened, and you will be told by e-mail which rule it concerns and why, unless the law forbids that. You can reply to that e-mail to ask for it to be reviewed; the operator looks at it again and answers.
6. Music and other services
Artist and record information, covers and 30-second previews come from Deezer and belong to their rights holders. They are shown for your personal, non-commercial listening only. Genre information comes partly from Discogs, MusicBrainz and ListenBrainz. Buttons such as "Listen on Spotify" take you to those services; their own terms and privacy rules apply there. Yipo isn't affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by Deezer, Spotify, Apple, YouTube, Tidal or any artist or label it shows. Their names and logos belong to their owners.
7. Yipo itself
The app, its design, its name and logo, and the way it makes suggestions belong to the operator. You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Yipo under these terms, free of charge, for as long as the agreement lasts.
8. What you give Yipo
Your taste, library, ratings and imported listening history stay yours. You allow Yipo to store and use them to provide the service to you, as described in the privacy notice. When you like or save an artist, your vote is counted, without your name or e-mail address, in what other listeners see: "Upcoming stars" and the monthly Underground 50. If you send feedback or ideas, the operator may use them to improve Yipo, without owing you anything for them.
9. Usage statistics and messages
Yipo keeps statistics of how you use the app only if you agree, and you can change your answer any time under You › Usage statistics. Details are in the privacy notice. Yipo e-mails you only sign-in codes and important messages about the service, never advertising. If you turn on notifications, you get music picks and, rarely, important news about Yipo; you can turn them off any time.
10. Availability and changes to the service
The operator provides Yipo with reasonable care. It runs on a single server and may be unavailable at times, for example during updates or outages; the operator works to keep these short. Features can change when there's a good reason: to improve Yipo, to keep it secure, to follow the law, or because a music data provider changes what it offers. If a change makes Yipo clearly worse for you, you will be told in good time and can end the agreement free of charge.
11. Your rights and liability
If you use Yipo as a consumer, you have the rights the law gives you when a digital service doesn't work as it should, including under Hungarian Government Decree 373/2021 and the EU Digital Content Directive. Nothing in these terms limits those rights or any other right you have as a consumer that can't be limited by contract.
Yipo's suggestions are a matter of taste: whether you like them isn't a fault. Previews, covers and links come from other services and may sometimes be missing or wrong.
The operator is liable for damage under the rules of Hungarian law, in particular the Civil Code. These terms don't exclude or limit that liability.
12. Ending the agreement
You can end the agreement at any time, free of charge, by deleting your account. The operator may end it with 30 days' notice by e-mail, or immediately if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms. If the operator closes Yipo altogether, you will be told by e-mail and in the app at least 30 days in advance.
When the agreement ends, your account and its data are deleted. Before that, or within 30 days after the operator ends it, you can ask at hello@yipo.app for a copy of your library and taste in a common machine-readable format, free of charge. Sections 6, 7, 11 and 14 continue to apply after the agreement ends.
13. Changes to these terms
The operator may change these terms for a good reason: a change in the law, a decision of an authority, a new or changed feature, security, or a change in what a music data provider allows. You will be told by e-mail and in the app at least 15 days before a change applies, with a summary of what changes. If you don't agree, you can end the agreement free of charge before the change applies by deleting your account; if you keep using Yipo after that date, the new terms apply. Changes that only add a new feature or are required by law immediately may apply sooner.
14. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by Hungarian law. If you are a consumer living in another EU country, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live, and you can bring a case in the courts of that country. Please write to hello@yipo.app first: most things can be sorted out quickly that way, and you will get an answer within 30 days.
